"The Wedding Date" (Book and Movie)

The Wedding Date

The Movie: With Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney as the main characters, and an interesting story-line, you'd think this film would be a good one. But it wasn't. It was a disappointment and a huge let down. It was a tragic mess of betrayed and and dishonesty. I do not recommend this movie. At all.

Asking for Trouble by Elizabeth Young
This book was originally titled Asking for Trouble. It was changed to The Wedding Date when the movie was made.

This book was good. It was entertaining and funny. It was very good at the beginning, a little slow in the very middle (but didn't last long!), and picked up speed at the end. The characters were well developed and had lots of personality. The story followed it's line fairly well. There were a few surprises, but no drastic scandals- expect the main one you are reading about. It is easy enough to follow, and a "can't put down"-er. I recommend reading this book.

Comparison
The book includes a lot more information, background, humor, and over-all story line than the movie. It has a much better ending, which wasn't even hinted at in the movie. The movie was missing some important character with major parts, the roommates and the neighbor. The book wasn't nearly as scandalous as the film. At the end of the film, I was disgusted. At the end of the book, I was pleased happy and had greatly enjoyed it. The movie and the book were nothing alike, and I don't see how they got the movie from this book.
