I had the Orientation and registration for classes today. What at on of info! I knew there would be a lot, and I'm glad I was prepared. Orientation was about an hour long. Started late, which was irritating, and I missed a 2:00 appt I had for a Health Care Conference Call. (Oh well, I will have to reschedule. It was booked a little too close anyway.) After Orientation I registered for classes. I am taking the ACA, NSO, a math and an English class. M,W,F 8-11 and T,TH 9-11. I will be finished in time to pick up the meals from the center and give lunch to my patients. Ten full credits and I'm still going to done before noon. Awesome. I start WCC on August 16. Not only will I be improving myself, but I will have a little more structure and more interaction with the world around me. I'm nervous, but I am really looking forward to it.
I am still a bit torn between Medical Assisting (specializing in insurance) or Accounting. I am going to take a Career Placement test and then speak with a counselor (Mike) about the results. I spoke with Brenda today, who is part of the MA course. Cindy and Janet are the instructors for the Accounting course, so I will probably get in touch with them as well. After speaking with someone today though, I don't think I would be very happy in MA, so I will probably go toward Accounting. *sigh* Anybody that can offer any help one way or the other would be my hero.
I need to get my high school transcript sent to the WCC registrar. Shouldn't be to difficult- make a phone call to ALLC and they send it in for me. (See address below.) I need to turn in my Student Support Services application. As a Wilkes Student, I get special services- tutors, computer lab, lunch once a month, helpful contacts, ect. It will provide some good resources and some friends too. There are a bunch of clubs I want to get involved in. I need to go through the list, find out which ones I am eligible for, pick one or two (or three), and get some emails sent out so I can get involved in those. The faster I am involved in clubs the better.
There is a ton to remember about financial aide, so the rest of this is mostly for my records. Right now, I need to fill out the FAFSA. That means I need to find my and Hubby's 2006 tax info. I think I know where they are. At the end of this week, call Vickie or Amy to be sure the info was received. Get ETA for funds. When that is finished, go to the college to apply for the change. I will receive the copy of my registration in the mail shortly. It will have my classes, and the fees for them. Once that is received, fill out the FACTS form. Allow adjustment for books/ supplies for WCC bookstore when submitting payment information. Jenni in the Accounting office can help with questions.
I think that's all for now. I am off to get supper made, then get working on this financial stuff.

Update July 13
-Took the Career Placement. I was told I should be in finances, management, or science. Hahaha- I'll choose finances. Need to make an appt with Mike to discuss results if I still can't decide.
-Call ALLC for the transcript. Said it would be mailed today.
-Found the Student Services form. Need to mail it in.
-As for the FAFSA. I finally found my tax info, and Selo says he will find his tonight. I checked out the form, and I am already overwhelmed. BUT I am going to sit down with the paperform, and fill it out. That way, when I do the online one, I will already have everything figured out and I can just punch the numbers.

-Called Shirley Church at WCC (6526) to verify HS transcript had been received. Transcript has NOT been received.
-Called ALLC. No answer (VM stated closed for Summer break, open on July 16th. This is after the 16th and should be open.)
-Need to send emails about various clubs to participate in.

Update July 31
-Received email stating FAFSA had been received, processed, and was sent to school for award. I am guessing this means the school gets to decided if and how much. I need to call the school tomorrow to check status.

Update August 1
- Called ALLC again. Carma said she would send the transcript again, and send a copy to me.
- Rejected for financial aide. I should receive a letter telling me why. I can now fill out a change of status form if I take in a copy of my last pay stub from Lowes and 2006 taxes.
- Sent email to Scott Johnson about clubs/ organizations.
- Shirley said my class schedule will be sent out tomorrow. Linda Church recommends I fill out FACTS form now, so it will be ready when I go in to get books next week (Tuesday?)
