I've finally made some progress on our car situation.
Since we don't have the title (*somebody* lost the title when we moved across the country), the car is still sitting in front of our house. We give the car to a wrecking yard until we have the title. So I finally got the paper work needed for a duplicate title. I filled it out, got it notarized, got a money order, and mailed it off. It takes 15 days to process after it is received. Hopefully a month from now we will have the title and can have the car taken away.
I also removed the tags from it and mailed them back to NC. Now that this is done, I have the vehicle insurance moved from NC to UT. Plus, the tag won't be stolen, which is something I was concerned about.
As for the insurance, we will be keeping insurance. We don't want a gap in our coverage, because that would raise our rates drastically when we DO purchase a vehicle. But we weren't sure if we could keep insurance if we didn't have a vehicle to insure. Luckily we can. They will put us on a special insurance for drivers only but no vehicle. It is the same price as our insurance now, which we think is kind of high for not insuring a vehicle, but at least we won't have a lapse in coverage. We are already paid through our six month period, so today all I have to do is call a local place with our company and have it transfered.
So progress has been made. And maybe, by the time this has all been taken care of, we will be able to start looking at cars to purchase. . . . Yeah, I didn't think so either. But I'm still making progress on this one!

I heard that you need to have your car inspected in Utah before you can get insurance. Is that true? Just wondering since we are moving there in May.
Hmmm, I didn't know about that. I guess I will find out. Thanks for the heads up- and I'll let you know.
