Ask A Nurse?

There used to be an 800# people could call and get some basic medical info. It was called Ask A Nurse. I can't find the number anywhere. Does anyone know if it is still in existence? What's the number? Are there any other services like it out there?

Check your insurance card. Many times there is an 800 # for 24 help on the back of the card or assigned to the company (check the wen site) that can help you.

Oh, good idea. Thanks!

Bummer, it was a good service.

And the ER won't give any info over the phone. I've tried them, and they always just tell me to bring him in- no matter what I ask.

You are right, Mini. Legally ER employees are not allowed to give any advice over the phone. Period. We can say "If you feel you have an emergency, we will be happy to see you."

Sorry

Yes, I know this. But for the record, I knew they couldn't give medical advice when I called. I was actually calling because my doctors' office said THEY didn't have any "Ask A Nurse" type numbers, but maybe the ER did.

Oh yes, and I also didn't find anything on the back of our old insurance card. I will look on the new one when I get it, since I just changed insurance.

And one last thing, Aetna sucks. We would have been better off financially by about $15 grand if we had opted to NOT pay for Aetna insurance and just covered our medical bills out of pocket. If you ever get the option, just say No to Aetna.

I think that they have done away with Ask a Nurse, but your regular physicians office or insurance may have a 24 hour line. I know hours does here and we use it all the time :)

Maybe the next time I am *in* the Dr office, I will ask around. . .
