Trip to NC

The trip was great! I had a great time driving out there with my Grandpa and Grandma Davis. They told me all sorts of stories and interesting facts. When we got there Friday morning we got started right away buying food and getting the yard ready for the wedding dinner that was Sunday night. All day Saturday we cut, cooked, and prepared food. Sunday morning right after church we got working again. We set up tables and finished the food and made centerpieces. Finally the dinner started and it went so smoothly! Everyone that arrived enjoyed it. What a relief. When we got home from the dinner that night, we got a sad call from Utah. My stepmother's (Judy) mother (Francis) had passed away. Her death was expected but hard on all of us. We decided to change our plans for the trip back and leave earlier so we could get Judy here for the funeral and to support her family. Monday we made plans and phone calls. Tuesday we got packed up and ready to leave as soon as the wedding was over. We left for the wedding and met at the Newton Courthouse in the Magistrates office. Kendra and her fiance Nick finally showed up. Nick, the groom, was dressed nicely in dress pants and dress shirt and a tie. Kendra, the bride, wore a very.... unconventional dress. The Magistrate did a great job with the ceremony. She included faith and God in the ceremony- as it should be. Anyone getting married can use God's help! When the congratulations were finished, we piled in our cars and headed out. Off to Utah! We drove and drove and drove. Wednesday morning Judy got another call. Her sister, Nancy, had been hit by an unmanned police truck. The dog that was sitting inside the truck had knocked it into gear and the truck had run over Aunt Nancy before she could get off the sidewalk and out of the way. She is still in the hospital with a broken hip. The trip back felt so much longer than the trip out there. The drive out there was me, Grandpa Davis, and Grandma Davis. It took us 38 hours from Utah to NC. The drive back was Grandpa Davis, Grandma Davis, Judy, me, Rebeka, Max, and Katerina. It took us 41 hours from NC to Utah. And this time, I was car sick most of the way. Not so fun. But we made it back safe and sound. Judy left to go be with her family, and the rest of us were 'delivered' to our respective homes. Rebeka and Andy had a joyous reunion. Max and Katerina had a great time with their cousins. I went home and spent the rest of the weekend with my sweetheart Selo. It was so nice to be home. Saturday morning we went up to Bountiful for Judy's mom's funeral. It was a beautiful service to honor a wonderful woman. (Aunt Nancy was not able to attend because of her broken hip.) So that is the update on my trip to NC- there and back.

For those of you that pray, please keep my stepmom Judy and the rest of the Newbold family in your prayers. We could all use some extra help sometimes, and right now, they are in need.
