I'm sure some of you think I am crazy to be posting regular updates about a cat. But taking care of anyone this intently creates a bond, no matter what type of creature it is with. Sweetie is part of our home now. Selo has fallen in love with her, and we will be adopting her.
I took her for her checkup today. The part of her foot that was amputated is doing better. The doctor said the scab will begin to losen and fall off now, and it will probably be gone completely be Friday. Unfortunately, she has two new open sores. These were injuries that the doctors believes were there all along, but weren't noticed when he was focusing on the part that needed amputation. These two sores a higher up on her leg, and he had to shave her farther up to see them clearly. He got the infection out, and cleaned them, and gave me more instruction. Sweetie will be on a new, stronger anti biotic since the infection doesn't seem to be leaving as well as he would like and she now has more to be treated. Selo and I will also have to help increase the blood flow to all of the wounds, by dressing them a certain way each morning and night. He is leaving her unbandaged. He says bandaging her would only hold the infection on the wound, and create a mess. Leaving it open will allow the air to help it heal and it will stay cleaner. She can no longer use a litter box, so we have to an alternative to that as well. But otherwise she is doing well. The doctor says with the constant and continuous care we have been giving, and the love and safety we are able to provide, she will be healthy and strong in no time. She loves to be pet, and loves to lay in Selo's lap. She doesn't quite know her name yet, but we are still working on that lol. She recognizes Selo and I, and she trusts us.
For those of you that have a strong stomach, I have added a picture of her healing foot in my pictures section. But be warned, it's not pretty.
