Uncle Dachie's Funeral

We met at the Miller Funeral Home, a beautiful and classic place. We were greeted warmly by the staff as their own friends, and taken into where Uncle Dachie's body was. Granny Ball, Uncle Wayne, Daniel, and Grandpa Davis arrived shortly thereafter. We were having a very small and private service, so we didn't have to wait on many people. The service began with an opening prayers, then Grandpa and Uncle Wayne finished dressing Uncle Dachie in his temple clothing. The casket was closed, and the pall bearers carried it to the vehicle. The funeral procession drove the short distance to the cemetery. At the grave site, Uncle Keith and Aunt Lisa sang "How Great Thou Art" and Brother Tim Marlow said a few words. It was nice to hear what Brother Marlow said about Uncle Dachie. Mitch dedicated the grave, and then the time was turned over to the military. It was such an honor to be present for this. The military gave the closing prayer on the services, presented the flag to Uncle Dachie's daughter, and did the 21 gun salute. We quietly hugged Granny Ball, and left the grave site.
***Special thanks to Steven for his assistance***

I've put a couple of pictures in here. If you want to see more, visit my PhotoBucket under Uncle Dachie.

Aren't the military honors a wonderful experience? I loved them at my dad's funeral. I cried really hard however when they played taps and did the 21 gun salute and it's still hard for me to hear that to this day. But, what a wonderful honor and experience!
