Need a PickMeUp?

Check out this site. Thanks to Brittany, who sent it to me. I read it, and just had to laugh. Enjoy!

Boogie through Life

My real life

Life is on the highest degree of okay right now. Not totally sky high perfect, thanks to the bank and their scheme to steal our money and the truck having no breaks, but we will survive! *sings I will survive* My FAFSA form was received and is in process. I am getting into a routine here, which helps me to feel better and get so much more done around here. I am working on planning our next vacation. I have a few options to decide from, and I want it to be a surprise for Hubby. I am thinking about changing my piano lessons. I love playing and I love my teacher, but I hate that it takes me longer to drive (one way!) then for a lesson. Hopefully we have the internet fixed. They ran a new cat5 today, from outside directly in to the modem. I heard a few days ago that the Davis Family vacation next year will be in Navoo. I am way excited about this and I will start doing research on it soon. I reached over 1000 visits on my blog today. I was so excited lol
I have been working on getting the Spirit back. I've noticed that I haven't felt it for a few weeks, except on Sundays and at the temple. This is not acceptable to me. So I have been doing a daily scripture study and prayer, and doing my best to be loving and charitable. I have noticed a positive difference already. If I can keep the Lord in mind in all my doings I know I will be much happier in all I do. AND my life will be easier, more satisfying, and more enjoyable. Total bonus all the way around!
The kittens are doing much better. They have been on meds for a few days and the worst is over. We had a few scary moments though. (In no particular order) Scary moment one: One of the twins (the female that we call China) was bleeding from her eye. The vet showed me how to wet and wipe their eyes, so the infection could continue to drain. Well none of them like this- not that I blame them one little bit- and while fighting me it started to bleed. I choose NOT to put the medicine on the open wound, so I put her down and let her go. She rubbed her eyes, and in an instant she broke open the scab that had formed. Not a small amount of blood started flowing. Since her face was now "wet" she did what all cats do, they shake their head very quickly. Bad idea. Now she is bleeding more, and there is blood flying from her little face. You can imagine my horror watching this happen all in less than five seconds time. Anyway, so I grab her and wrap her body in a towel to keep her still so the wound can clot again. Hand her off to Hubby to hold so I can make sure there isn't any blood on the carpet ect. She finally calms down, and the clot forms. We took her out of the towel, and Hubby cuddled her for a few more minutes. *Fast forward to today* Her eye is much better now. The wound has healed, and the infection is almost completely gone.
Second scary moment: Danger was dehydrated. We took them to the Pioneer Day festival with us, so they could have some outside time and people time. (Vet said they were ready to go to their own homes, but they need social skills first.We only took four of the kittens and left Bella home. She wasn't doing as well, and I didn't think she could handle it yet. We didn't take Sweetie either.) We took a syringe to keep them hydrated and kitten food to keep them happy. They all did very well for the first hour. The second hour, I took them behind a building/shed/ whatever you want to call it, away from the people, in the shade, and where a breeze was blowing. I let them all out of the huge box they were in and let them play around on the grass in the cooler air. Even though they didn't like it, I made sure to give them water via the syringe every hour or so. When our party brought out the food, I packed them back to where everyone was and got me some food. Danger wasn't as playful as the rest, he just laid around. I kept giving him water and picking him up to keep him moving. The girls (Katerina, Vannah, Tamara, and Makialah) took the kittens into the AC bathroom to let them cool off again. Danger still just laid around. (Scary moment in a scary moment: In the bathroom, China's arm came out of the socket. I was in there with them, so I very gently moved it back where it should have been. I guess it wasn't painful for her at all, because she just jumped up and started chasing the others around like nothing had happened.) We left a little while later and finally got home. The rest seemed fine, but Danger still wasn't doing too good. So I continued giving him water with the syringe and stuck the stinky wet cat food right in front of him. He ate, and the next day was fine again.
Third scary moment: Bella being so sick. She seems to have this infection so much worse than all the rest. She is weazy, her eyes are so swollen, and she's just struggling to breathe. I know that humans get worse before they get better, so I expected that when the kittens were put on medicine. But Bella seemed to just stay bad. Her eyes got more swollen, she slept even more. Well the night before last I actually took her to bed with me. She was struggling so hard to breath but her nose was just so stuffy. I gave her another dose of the medicine and settled down with her. I laid on my side, and put her on a towel in front of me. That way she right next to me and I could hear if she stopped breathing. It was a long and rough night, but she actually made it through. *Fast forward to today* She is doing better. She is still stuffy, and obviously sick. But the swelling in her eyes has gone down, and she is more active. I can see now that she is improving, and I am so glad for that.
I tried to put a video of the kittens playing on YouTube, but it didn't work. I need to go fix supper right now, but I will see what I can figure out when I get back. They are adorable and I want to share them :)

Update: I got the video to work. Here's a video of China playing with Sweetie's tail. See how excited Sweetie is?

Hubby loves me- so he made this for me <3

Seeing Eye Dog

A man goes to a bar with his dog. He goes up to the bar and asks for a drink. The bartender says "You can't bring that dog in here!" The guy, without missing a beat, says "This is my seeing-eye dog." "Oh man, " the bartender says, "I'm sorry, here, the first one's on me." The man takes his drink and goes to a table near the door.

Another guy walks in the bar with a Chihuahua. The first guys sees him, stops him and says "You can't bring that dog in here unless you tell him it's a seeing-eye dog." The second man graciously thanks the first man and continues to the bar. He asks for a drink. The bartender says "Hey, you can't bring that dog in here!"

The second man replies "This is my seeing-eye dog." The bartender says, "No, I don't think so. They do not have Chiwauas as seeing-eye dogs." The man pauses for a half-second and replies "What?!?! They gave me a Chihuahua?!?"

Ding! 30 WHM

I hate WHM. Yeah, you heard me, I hate it. When I first started FFXI on my first character, I started as WHM. I got to lvl 18 and Drew (aka Dayle) started his drama. So I started my character over, and started as BLM this time. And I love BLM. I have never NOT enjoyed BLM. The only problem is that the best /sub for BLM is WHM. So I have to lvl my WHM. Last night wasn't bad though. I am noticing that the higher lvl I get, the more I enjoy the game- as BLM and WHM.
Anyway, last weekend was interesting. I was disappointed over and over again with WS. This doesn't happen very often! But I had planned, prepared for, and was ready and waiting for a certain event. I was waiting to be told where to meet everyone. After sitting there looking stupid for a while, I asked again, and was told to keep waiting- they were going to meet me. So I keep waiting. I ask again. They left me! Because I wasn't there! What the crap?!?! I am sitting there, doing what I am told, and waiting for them. And they leave me behind! I am severely ticked. In order to make it up to me (okay not really, they just wanted me to shut up), plans were made for another party to go later that night- of more people that needed it but were left behind. So I wait. And wait. And wait. Then I hear that they are going to bed. What a waste of a night.
The next day, plans are made again. Well skipping all the drama, I bet you can guess what happened. That's right, another no go. Needless to say, I am very upset. This LS is not flaky like this, and they don't usually blow things (and people!) off like this. I don't understand what the problem is. I am very disappointed. Lucky for me, I know I am being emo, so I simply switch LS and distract myself. I know people in the other LS couldn't care less how I feel. So I put on my trusty (and reliable!) GTMC LS, and talk it up in there. (No I didn't bring up my drama. Like I said, I wanted to distract myself.) I love these people. And I loved them even more at that very moment.
(Am I concerned about anyone from that WS seeing this post? Not really. None of them really take me seriously, and there fore have no reason, desire, or intention of reading my blog. Except for Vel, of course, who will probably read this at some point or another. But I'm not worried about him causing a scene. Besides Vel being totally uber and loyal in the friendship dept, he knows me well enough to let this blow over. I needed to have my little trantrum, through my fit, and I will get over it. Time heals all. And blogging. Blogging it out definitely heals too.)
Sunday, Selo (BRD), Battlehawk (MNK), and Nedjobean (BLM) are all getting together to get it done. Selo needs it too, and Ned and Battle are willing to help. Ned asks in LS if anyone else needs it, and Seaofheather (BLU) comes along. We had a pretty good party, and got out there fine. The problem happened during the fight. See, as a BLM, I have learned to stand as far from the melee as possible in order to avoid AoE. In the case of the Shadow Lord fight, this is a bad idea. Selo can't <[Horde Lullaby]> the undead if they are all scattered out between me and the melee. So I have skeletons all over me, and they aren't sleeping. I wipe, then the rest of the party wipes. We are dead, and kicked from the area. Ned is so kind as to run Tak (WHM) out to raise us. Once we are raised and unweakened, we go back in. Selo was nice enough to explain to me why we died, so this time, I stay nice and close to Battle. This time it is a success- even without Battle's two hour. Yay! Finally it's done! I am glad to have that finished. And I would like to give Ned, Battle, Tak, Sea, and Selo full credit for it. Thanks also goes out to GTMC.
After that fight was finished, I lvled my WHM. I was in a really good party, with an awesome PLD. I think PLD was SE's gift to WHMs. It makes healing so much easier. And <[regen]>, I love regen. When that party disband, I S/I walked all the way back to Kazham. Got almost to the zone line, and received a party invite. From one of the people in the last party, for the same place the last party was. So I S/I walk all the way back. After a bit of death, we get started, and have a pretty good party. It gets late, and I have dinged a few times. Half the party is out, but we find reps, I hand off party leader (which I did very well at this time, I might add), and logged right where I was. I am 3.5 TNL, and I will probably be lvling right there when I get back in. So I see no point in going back to Kazham. I will need to update all my spells once I hit 30, but I'm not worrying about it yet. My plans with my WHM, are to take her all the way up. I want all the tele's, as they are an awesome way to make gil. TaruTeleTaxi <[Yes, Please]> I think as I continue getting higher, I will begin to enjoy it more. I am hopeful anyway.
Selo is thinking about putting together a Dynamis shell. He has a lot on his mind about it, and I am doing my best to be supportive. Without ever having been to Dynamis myself, I can only be a mirror to his thoughts, I can't actually give any feedback. I just don't know anything about it. But I am all for joining- and it sounds like he has several others too. I hope that he will be able to get out of it what he is looking for, and it won't make him go broke. From what I understand, Dynamis can be a very beneficial activity to all those that actively participate. It's the ones that are only in it for themselves that seem to ruin it for everyone else. We shall see on that one.
I got an email today about the Final Fantasy Fan Festival 2007. I would love to go to this. Totally and completely geeky, but it sounds like fun! I would love to take one of those luxury vacations and end up surrounded by fellow FFXI lovers. It's in Cali, Nov 15-17. Tickets are $85 apiece, and we would have to get airline tickets, hotel, transportation, and the works. But you can't tell me it wouldn't be so totally worth it if we could pull it off. I would absolutely love to go.

This is Mini, at the Burning Circle

Edit: I realized after several comments on this post that I had 29WHM instead of 30WHM. Pardon me for disrespecting my hard work. *scolds self* This error has been corrected.

Two Brothers

From Clean Christian Jokes

In a certain suburban neighborhood, there were two brothers, 8 and 10 years old, who were exceedingly mischievous. Whatever went wrong in the neighborhood, it turned out they had had a hand in it. Their parents were at their wit's end trying to control them.

Hearing about a priest nearby who worked with delinquent boys, the mother suggested to the father that they ask the priest to talk with the boys.

The mother went to the priest and made her request. He agreed, but said he wanted to see the younger boy first and alone. So the mother sent him to the priest.

The priest sat the boy down across a huge, impressive desk he sat behind. For about five minutes they just sat and stared at each other. Finally, the priest pointed his forefinger at the boy and asked, "Where is God?"

The boy looked under the desk, in the corners of the room, all around, but said nothing.

Again, louder, the priest pointed at the boy and asked, "Where is God?"

Again the boy looked all around but said nothing. A third time, in a louder, firmer voice, the priest leaned far across the desk and put his forefinger almost to the boy's nose, and asked, "Where is God?"

The boy panicked and ran all the way home. Finding his older brother, he dragged him upstairs to their room and into the closet, where they usually plotted their mischief. He finally said, "We are in BIIIIG trouble."

The older boy asked, "What do you mean, BIIIIG trouble?"

His brother replied, "God is missing and they think we did it."

Another reason to blog

I love blogs. I love blogging. I love browsing, reading, writing, reviewing, and anything else that can be done in the blogging world. I love blogging contests, blogging reviews, great blogging info, blogging communities. I love it all. So when I was reading Jade's blog, I once again found an awesome opportunity (how does she find this stuff?)

Fechr.com is going to feature one blog per day, starting at midnight, for 24 full hours. And for those of you that are looking to increase traffic to your blog, here's a great way to do it. For now it is free. But once the traffic starts flowing (and we all like traffic to flow), there will be a charge. And even if you don't get featured right away, you will still be linked in their buzz directory. All you have to do is post on your own blog about the opportunity, so that the word gets spread around, and then submit your entry.

Rank 5!!!

Thanks to Ned and Tak, and even Benny, for helping me to complete mission 4, Magicite, today and get Rank 5!!! I now have an Airship Pass :) and I am half way to Rank 10. And OMGosh I am glad that mission is over, it sucked. As for the next one, The Final Seal, it looks interesting to me. I am going to start it tonight, and make sure I am ready to form a party. It will be an intense fight. I'm looking forward to the <[rush]> hehehe
I've decided I need to increase my level in GTMC. I am grateful to have these friends, and I should be more active in the forum.
Selo has been telling me to join the WS forum too. I digg all the guys in there, but I haven't been invited, so I'm a weary about it. I don't want to step in where I shouldn't. I have the shell simply because I am Selo's wife, I don't feel like I did anything to earn it, and I don't feel that I have done anything to contribute to the LS. I really enjoy being in the shell, and the friends that are there. But like I said, I don't want to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong.
I found the cutest Moogle I've ever seen. I give credit to Phoenixcrash on her DeviantArt site. But you can judge for yourself, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Update (2 hours later): I just found out Achi has a group together that is doing 5-1, The Final Seal, and 5-2, The Shadow Awaits, tomorrow night! Yay!!!! And I did sign up for the WS forum. Vel and Achi both asked me to join- without me saying anything about it, so I feel the invite was real lol. So I'm convinced. And tomorrow I will be able to prove myself, that way I won't feel like a newb.

Questioning your blogging skills?

Well build some confidence! I found an excellent article today written by Wely to help build confidence in your own writings. It is easy to read and has good information in it. I am always looking for tips to improve my writing. Instead of finding tips, I found confidence. Thanks Wely!

Thank you Mendifae

This my first ever pixel gift! Mendifae at PoeticFrog made this beautiful little creation just for me. Thank you, Honey, it's so sweet of you. I love it <3>

Let the healing begin

I took the kittens to the doctor today. We went to The Animal Hospital of Wilkes, because I have always had good service from them, and I was in need of someone I trust. I was going to wait until Monday, but they were having so much trouble breathing I lost sleep over it. The vet was really nice. Instead of charging me for each animal I brought in, she charged me for one visit since I brought them all together. She checked them out, and gave me lots of info. Just as Veloxe said earlier (see: comments for The Joys of Motherhood), they have an infection. She said it was both viral and bacterial. The infection is mostly in their eyes, noses, and the backs of their throats. But NOT in their lungs, which I was concerned about and very happy to hear. It is contagious and travels through the mom as well. So I actually have six sick kitties, not just three. Sweetie's immune system is stronger and can fight it, but the babies can't. They are on an anti-biotic once a day (Sweetie included), and they have to have an ointment (Neo Poly Bac) put on their eyes twice a day (only the ones that have swollen eyes). I am supposed to clean their eyes with a warm wet cloth two - three times a day. I had to get them some 9 Lives canned food- something that is easier to eat, and smells much stronger since they can't smell well while they are sick. They must stay hydrated, which means I may be giving the ones that won't eat water from a syringe, along with the medicine. But with all the medicine and extra care, they should heal just fine.

She de-wormed them (included in the cost of the visit) and confirmed male/female for me. I was right- four girls and a boy. So now Hubby gets to pick a girl name for his "Little Guy". Kittens normally get their first set of kitten shots at 8 weeks, but she says wait two additional weeks after their 8 weeks for healing- so ten weeks. They can be fixed as early as six months- unless the females go into heat before then, and then the vet will do it right away. To fight fleas, simply give them a gentle bath with PalmOlive. It's strong enough to kill the fleas and gentle enough so it doesn't harm their skin. (I sound like a commercial.)

So there's the kitten update. Thanks to everyone that has sent me emails or left comments. I appreciate all the suggestions and support. And thanks Vel for your research- it was most helpful. Take care all!

"Transformers" (Movie)

Okay I've been promising a review on Transformers for a while. And even though my internet still sucks, I am going to write it anyway. (Way for notepad, copy and paste!)

Transformers (2007)

This movie was awesome!!! Hubby loved it because he used to watch the cartoons, I loved it because I love this genre of movie (comic book/ cartoon hero). It is two and half hours worth of good humor, fun and interesting story line, good characters, loyalty to family and friends, and excellent special effects. And the "romantic scene" was saved for the end! ( Nothing worse than being distracted from a good story line by a painful and unneeded romance.) The music fit with the movie well, and it was familiar and likable. The ending battle is intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There were a few parts I could have done without (the bedroom scene between son and parents, the finger, ect), but overall, it was a great movie. This is one that I plan on not just renting once in a while, but purchasing so I can watch it often. And maybe even see it again before it leaves the theatre.

My favorite line from this movie "Satan's camaro is stalking me"

I highly recommend this movie.

Address Labels

When Hubby and I got married, my mom sent me some return address labels to put on the invitations so I didn't have to write out our name and address 400 times. (Yes, 400. We sent out 400 invites.) Well after the wedding, I started looking around to order more. Eventually we would run out of the ones my mom made us, and I would need to order some. I found some very cute ones. There were hundreds out there, how was I ever going to choose? However in my search, I also found some beautiful patriotic address labels- and they are free! I am all about having pride in my country (God Bless America!) and I love the all things American. So these labels were true to my red-blooded, southern girl, true to American heart. I ordered from two sites. The first was from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. These labels have the American flag, the Statue of Liberty, a globe, and a beautiful American ribbon. The other set is from Paralyzed Veterans of America, which has red, white, and blue all over them in ever-so-elegant styles. This set also included some labels in a different format with the picture above or below the name and address to give variety.

I am very pleased with both of the sets I received, and I will be back for more when the time comes.

PS Although these labels can be ordered for free, both of these organizations appreciate any and all donations that are given to cover the costs!

The joys of Motherhood- Sharing the responsibility

I have have always believed a mother cannot care for her children completely on her own. Their will be times when she needs help. Different kinds of help- from the babies' father, from parents, from siblings, from a sitter, even from random strangers sometimes. In our household, we are reaching that point. Sweetie has become such a good mother cat (see: MommyKitty). The older her kittens get, the more impressed I am with her. But, we have a . . . situation. We have sick babies. Now a mother can obviously care for a sick baby. But when you have five babies that are ill, it's time to enlist help. That's where I come in (see: Mama). Here's what's going on:

The twins both have colds that have made their eyes full of gunk, they sneeze a lot, sound like they are weazing, and sleep where ever they can find a warm spot.

Bella's eyes are so swollen she can hardly see out of them. She is constantly following her mom around waiting for her (MommyKitty) to lay down so she (Bella) can sleep near her. This is very un-like Miss Independent, as she prides herself on being by herself.

Little Jac seems to be healthy since he is running and jumping and chasing and playing and sneaking and peaking just like normal. However, I have noticed a certain 'wetness' in the eyes, which is quite similar to what happened to the other three before the 'sickness' set in. Keeping a close watch on this one.

Little Guy is healthy. Everything as normal, and no wetness to the eyes- yet. Ever chasing and snuggling Daddy, every chance that is given.

I constantly have a kitten sleeping in my lap. (Right now there are three.) I have been watching them closely, and although they sound sick, it doesn't sound life threatening. But like I said, I am watching closely. And I will be taking them to the vet if it hasn't cleared up by Monday, just to be sure. In other babykitty info, we think we have one male (the twin withOUT the tail) and four females (all others- including the two I was sure were boys). Poor Hubby. This home is already drowning in estrogen. They are almost seven weeks old (tomorrow!). They had another outting outside today. I took them out and let them spend a few minutes in the grass and sunshine. Sweetie didn't freak and drag them back inside one by one this time. She simply stood at the door and called them. It was pretty cute. Piper freaked out though, and she let me know it. She was not happy! Little Guy didn't like the grass at all, and only moved when all the others around were on their way. As usual, Bella and Little Jac were inquisitive and wandered around. After getting them all back inside I turned my back to close the door, and Little Jac was already back outside, smelling the flowers. Have to keep a closer eye on that one. They are all eating solid food now- except Little Guy. No matter how long Sweetie deprives him (her?) of mommy-milk, or how many times I set him (her?) in the middle of two other kittens that are already eating solid food, he (she?) just doesn't seem to get it. Or just doesn't want it- I haven't figured out which yet. They are familiar with the litter box, and most are using it steadily. A few accidents still, but good progress has been made.

PS. Probably won't be having any more pictures for the next little while. My camera (yes, I still hate it. Anybody that knows anything about it knows how much I hate THIS particular camera. *sigh*) is out of batteries. Now we do have rechargeable batteries. But since we moved, we haven't been able to find the battery charger- and I've gone through the sets that were already charged. So until I a) buy a new battery charger and charge them up or b) find the one we already own (My preference!) I won't be able to take any new pictures. And they are *so* cute right now!

Hope

As promised, here is the talk I gave when speaking in sacrament meeting last Sunday. I learned a lot from this talk, and I hope it helps all that read it. God Bless.

If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all, Martin Luther King Jr.

So what is hope?

Neal A Maxwell: Real hope is much more than wishful musing. It stiffens, not slackens, the spiritual spine.

The Marriam-Webster dictionary defines hope as a verb meaning to cherish a desire with anticipation, to desire with expectation of obtainment, to expect with confidence. The wikipedia definition is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of perseverance — i.e., believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. The opposite of hope is despair, depression, pessimism, sadness, gloom, grief, dissapointment, and doubt.

These emotions often plague us today. Many of us are depressed and doubtful much of the time. How many people out there live only surviving from day to day? How many are too busy going and doing, that we don’t take the time to feel and enjoy faith and hope. We now have a standard of despair, and we are losing hope in ourselves and those around us. We have the mindset “If I want something done right, I must do it myself” and “never going to be good enough”. I know for myself, feeling like I always have to prove myself in one way or another, and being overwhelmed every day, can cause me to lose hope.

To be hopeful, in today’s world, is not simply a blessing. It is now a necessity. Gordon B Hinckley is one of my most favorite people in this world, and I admire him greatly. He has said, “People are not without hope. Everybody ought to recognize that in the most dire circumstances there is an element of hope, that people can recover from what they have done, that they can do better, that they can turn around, that they can improve and increase their happiness by so doing.” Even through difficult times and trying experiences, people should keep their hope. Hope is motivational. Hope is encouraging. Hope is reassuring. Hope is our way of mentally and emotionally supporting ourselves and others.

Hope is closely related to faith and to fear. It comes from fear, and is fueled by faith. There is no hope unmingled with fear, and no fear unmingled with hope, Baruch Spinoza. What is fear then? Fear is a distressing emotion caused by heightened nerves or thoughts. And what is faith? Faith is the belief in something that cannot be seen or touched, but is known to be true. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Job is an example of a man with great faith. He had faith in God, and in God’s plan for him. Isn’t it a reassuring thought to know that God is not only counscious of you and your life, but he is always caring and mindful and in control? He knows what you are going through, and will be there to support you and love you through it. I can think of nothing more comforting than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As stated by PK Thomajan hope can always cope. It is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier. Doubt is to be uncertain, distrusting, or hesitant to believe. How many of us are doubting when it comes to the gospel in our lives? How many of us pray that we may have trust in God’s plan for us, but inside think we know exactly what would be best for us? How many of us know the truth of the Gospel, yet don’t want to believe it because it means we would have to alter ourselves? To doubt, is to be untrusting toward God- and how ridiculas is that? Lol Can you see yourself telling God that you think you know better than He? Doubt may be the first reaction- our first thoughts may be to think we know it all and will get through this on our own. But I’ve learned from experience that God really does know what he is doing, he knows it a lot better than I do, and therefore trusting in His plan and letting Him guide me will get me through anything a lot easier. It gives me hope to know I can rely on Him, and everything will be taken care of.

It also gives me hope knowing that there is a bigger picture. Sometimes, in our lives, we can’t figure out how this trial or this difficulty could possible be a benefit. Paul had an experience similar to this. He was in town teaching a multitude of people. While teaching, the Lord told him to leave the multitude to go teach one person. So he went. Paul knew the Lord was all knowing, and had a desire to do whatever the Lord required of him. He knew the Lord had a higher plan, and this gave him hope that what was he was doing was for the bigger picture.

For me, hope also brings happiness. Knowing that things will eventually get better. Knowing that things are taken care of. Knowing that there is hope for the future, relieves the pressure and stress. It allows me to be happy and enjoy life. Alma 28:12 supports this idea, “While many thousands of others truly mourn. . . yet they rejoice and exult in the hope, and even know, according to the promises of the Lord, that they are raised to dwell at the right hand of God, in a state of never-ending happiness.”

Hope brings peace in death. Death seems depressing and final, when thought of in a worldly sense. But when we think about death in the bigger picture, it is not death at all. It is the next stage in life. I believe death is the passing from this spiritual state to the next. We are freed from the physical limitations of this world, and we move into a more beautiful, spiritual, loving and so much more accepting. The family, friends and acquaintances still here in this world are grieving for us when we pass on, however we are celebrating to have left behind the worldly limitations and rejoicing with others who have already moved into the next stage of life. We are able to once again, be right there with our Heavenly Father and Mother, Jesus Christ, and all our other brothers and sisters in our heavenly family.

Hope is wonderful and is God given. But just as anything else, we must strive to keep our hope strong and active. Mother Teresa compared hope to a lamp. “To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.” We must feed our hope to keep it alive. To do this, we can treat it as we would other element in our lives. Pray to have hope. Study hope in our daily scripture study. Have a positive outlook on life, encouraging postiive thoughts and perspectives. Things actions will keep hope in our lives. Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”

I have a testimony of hope. A personal example of needing to have more hope in my life, was just before my wedding. The bishop, my husband, and all my family members were working on a single major factor of the wedding. Everyone else had confidence in the Lord and hope that everything would be alright. Because we planned our wedding in six weeks, we were rushed to get certain VERY needed paperwork done. Bishop Woodard, President Whitaker, and my husband were all working hard to be sure it would be accomplished by the due date. And as they were taking care of everything, I was panicking. It was one of those moments I felt that I had to do everything, and I just couldn’t. I needed to step back, and trust that my husband was aware of all that was happening and doing what was needed. Once I finally did, things changed. I gave up the so called control I thought I had, and handed my stress and anguish over to the Lord. I put confidence in His plan, and got my hope back that everything would be taken care of. The very next day, the paperwork came through. Our wedding took place ten days later, on the date we had originally chosen and in the temple we had chosen. It was a very difficult lesson for me, and one I will never forget. I learned to keep Hope in the Lord’s plan for me, and trust that he knows what he is doing. I learned that others are just as if not more capable than I am. I learned to trust in the priesthood around me. And since that lesson, I have been able to remind myself the Lord knows all, and everything will be okay according to His plan.

I would like to bear my testimony to you. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith. I believe he was a prophet of God. I believe Gordon B Hinckley is a prophet called of God. I have a lot of respect for both of these men and what they did for people and for the Lord. I look forward to meeting them in the next life. I believe God has a plan for us. I believe and I am grateful for the gift of family. My great-granny down to my future children. I am grateful for my husband, whom I love so much and I am so blessed to have in my life. I am grateful for my dad and step-mom. They are wonderful people and excellent examples. Judy is one of the most patient people I have ever known. I am grateful to my brother and sisters- all of them. I am grateful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I am grateful for the gift of freedom and living in America, so that I may believe and worship as I choose to. I am grateful for the opportunity and luxury of employment. I am grateful for this ward and the opportunity to meet and visit and enjoy being around people of God. I am grateful for education, and the chance to learn and further knowledge. I am grateful for good friends. I have a testimony of God, and I am glad to have Him in my life. God makes all things possible and gives hope in all things. And I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. He is my savior, my example, and my hero. I say these things, in the holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Think you've got blogging skills?

Rex at BloggerSkills asked just that. It was an enjoying post to read, and the responses lead to other good blogs, including Andreas Bard and Easton Ellsworth. He hasn't picked a winner yet, which means the contest is still open. I haven't decided if I will enter yet or not, because I am still so new to the blogging world. But I will definitely be watching his blog to see who the winner is. Anybody with skills is someone I want to learn from!

Emotiocons on the road

ThinkGeek is constantly coming up with great geek toys. I am always on the lookout for new creations of the geek world. (And I will be forever grateful to my Hubby, who showed me this page. I have been addicted ever since.) This new toy is one of my favorites. Ever get ticked when you've been cut off? Want to thank that nice driver for letting you in? Now you can!!! With the Driving LED Emoticon. This little toy will most certainly let the drivers around you know what you are feeling- and in a less confrontational and so-much-safer way. Care for a drive anyone?

It was worth $79!

I have FINALLY finished the FAFSA form for financial aide for school. It cost me $79 to submit the app, and I was a little irritated about it. BUT I have changed my opinion! After spending hours working on that stupid thing, this is the conversation I just had with Hubby about it. Noticing the time stamps on this conversation.

[15:16] *Marie*: Wow, that was complicated
[15:16] *Marie*: I just now finished the FAFSA online
[15:16] : They just called me
[15:17] : They will be calling you on your cell
[15:22] *Marie*: Holy Crap I can't believe they called THAT FAST!
[15:22] *Marie*: I had *barely* hit the send button!
[15:22] *Marie*: They called me before you had typed "They just called me"
[15:22] : lol
[15:22] : nice
[15:22] : I gave them your number
[15:23] *Marie*: I had my number on the application, but I listed yours as a back up.
[15:23] *Marie*: We talked about the app, and she said (after we corrected some stuff) that it looked good, and I should receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes
[15:23] *Marie*: I need to print it, sign it, and send it back.
[15:23] *Marie*: Once they receive my signature, then they will submit the info to the college.
[15:24] *Marie*: I can't believe they work that fast!!!
[15:24] : Cool
[15:24] *Marie*: So tonight I may need your help getting the printer set up so I can print this page.
[15:24] : k
[15:25] : Just plug it in and print ^^
[15:25] *Marie*: lol and here's the confirmation email
[15:25] *Marie*: That $79 bucks was more than worth it!

So LESS THAN 10 minutes. I had barely had a chance to sit back and breathe a sigh of relief that it was over, before Nancy (from financial aide) was calling me saying it had been received, looked good, what the next step was, and how long it would take. Needless to say, I am impressed!

(My record of what has been done and still needs doing.)

2000 Bloggers- The Final Two

I have been honored to be part of 2000 Bloggers. This is a blogging community, with the goal to unite 2000 bloggers in the blogosphere. I was accepted and added to their social blogging network quite recently, and I have enjoyed it so far. (See me? Bottom row, in the middle.) Well they are down to the last two spots. And they are picking in style! They are doing an essay contest, to decided on the openings. I am enjoying reading the essays that have already been written. The last two winners really have to work for their spot, and once it has been earned, they will be recognized with a featured blog post. I am looking forward to seeing who earns these spots, and getting to know them. So if you are looking for a tighter and close nit social network to get into, and get your blog out to 2000 other bloggers, here's your chance. Good luck Bloggers!

In Loving Memory

Selo's Aunt June has passed away. This post is a little late, and I'm sorry for that.

Margaret June Turner Mason Thorsen

We will miss you, and look forward to seeing you again. We love you.

Alright I give up

Our internet still sucks. The upgrade request has been submitted, and will be fulfilled this week. But for right now, every time I want to see a new page, I have to click, wait, internet down, go back, click, wait, and sometimes it will work and sometimes not. It does not work the first time, and rarely the second time. I can't get the freaking internet to work!!! So I give up. Congratulations, Mr Internet Killer, you win. Thanks for ruining my day.

OMGosh I want one!!!

Andreas Bard is hosting a link back contest on his blog where you can win a trendy 1GB USB wristband. Make sure to check out Andreas blog that contains a lot of motivational articles that can help you improve your business.

I want, oh, how about, twelve of these! After dealing with needing a bigger zip drive, I would totally settle for this. Very uber.

PS Thanks to Jade for letting me know about this.

Another Sunday

What a great weekend! Yesterday we went to the Raleigh temple. One group left early and made it on time, and another group got behind and missed the endowment session. So instead, we did sealings. I got to marry my husband all over again! It was so wonderful. After the temple we went to Line Upon Line bookstore and Hubby bought me The Hymns on CD. I have been wanting them for a while, and I am really glad to have them. There was a really cool book I want, too, about each hymn and it's background. We then went to this little Italian restuarant to eat, and it was so yummy! After lunch, everyone else went back home, and Hubby and I went on a date <3 We saw Transformers!!! I absolutely love it- and yes, I will have a review for you shortly.
Today Hubby and I gave our talks in church. They turned out really well, and we are both pleased with them. A little nervous, but neither one of us passed out. As soon as sacrament was over, I was called into Primary to teach. The teacher that was "absent" got there right before class started, so I didn't actually have to teach, but I stayed in there anyway. Those six year olds are so cute! Then into Relief Society, where I got to talk to Shaleice again. I was glad to see her. AND there is a new couple in our ward- young and no children, just like me and Hubby. We are going to get together and get to know each other. I also talked to another friend of mine that is getting married soon, and we may be able to get some dinner parties going. We are beginning to get enough people together to have "The Younger Adult Generation" get together lol. During RS, I was pulled out and set apart for my calling. I also asked about my un-official calling with the Bulletins, so that may be more official here shortly ;)
I updated the kitten's album today with their six week pics. While I was at it, I also did Desiree's Baby Shower, Maple Springs Party, and a few pics of our home. I put a diary in for the kittens, Piper, and even Sweetie.
My good friend Danger told me about IncrediMail, and I am beginning to really like it. I have had a lot of compliments on it, and I am loving how fun it is. I am waiting for a few more details to come through, and then I will have everything the way I want it. So far, I am pleased with it :)
I have been browsing a lot of blogs lately. I joined three blogging communities, and I am having a good time browsing. It took me a while to realize I don't have to read everything about every blog, but I can enjoy select things on them. The only thing I wish I could find is more blogs about FFXI.
Well I hope you have a wonderful Sunday evening, and a very pleasant week!

Relationship info

This is excellent information. I hope it is beneficial for everyone out there.

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache. Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend. Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better. The only person you can control in a relationship is you. Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, Why would he treat you any differently? Always have your own set of friends separate from his. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later. You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within. Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has
more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less. Never let a man define who you are. Never borrow someone else's man. Oh!? If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you. All men are NOT dogs. You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two-way street. You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary. Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr.. Right. Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him--he takes it for granted. Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

Men, this stuff goes for women, too. Men aren't the only sex that walks all over their partner, they aren't the only side involved in manipulation, and they aren't the only people who should be held responsible.

Share this with other other..... You'll make someone SMILE, another RETHINK their choices, and another PREPARE.

Thank you Sanny

I just wanted to share the Oh-So-Cute dolls Sanny made for me. I haven't quite learned graphic art myself yet. I think these are pretty cute. Thank you Sanny!

"The Wedding Date" (Book and Movie)

The Wedding Date

The Movie: With Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney as the main characters, and an interesting story-line, you'd think this film would be a good one. But it wasn't. It was a disappointment and a huge let down. It was a tragic mess of betrayed and and dishonesty. I do not recommend this movie. At all.

Asking for Trouble by Elizabeth Young
This book was originally titled Asking for Trouble. It was changed to The Wedding Date when the movie was made.

This book was good. It was entertaining and funny. It was very good at the beginning, a little slow in the very middle (but didn't last long!), and picked up speed at the end. The characters were well developed and had lots of personality. The story followed it's line fairly well. There were a few surprises, but no drastic scandals- expect the main one you are reading about. It is easy enough to follow, and a "can't put down"-er. I recommend reading this book.

Comparison
The book includes a lot more information, background, humor, and over-all story line than the movie. It has a much better ending, which wasn't even hinted at in the movie. The movie was missing some important character with major parts, the roommates and the neighbor. The book wasn't nearly as scandalous as the film. At the end of the film, I was disgusted. At the end of the book, I was pleased happy and had greatly enjoyed it. The movie and the book were nothing alike, and I don't see how they got the movie from this book.

Congrats all around!

First, I would like to wish Melissa and her family congrats on their new baby girl, Rebekah Nartuya.

Congratulations girls! I am very happy for you both :)

Parenting guidelines . . .

. . . for talking and posting about your kids online. I found this info very useful. I would like to thank Diane, for this info. Even though we don't have children of our own yet, Hubby and I have talked about whether or not we want pics and info posted about out kids online. I believe these guidelines are excellent.

It is at strong recommendation, should you choose to display your child's picture on your profile, please do one of these two things......

Never post the child's name. Use terms like "My little man" or "darling princess". Also always make sure no mention of where you live, whether it be hometown or street address is displayed anywhere on your profile.

Be careful how much information you divulge on someone's comments.

A recent flag report was sent to us with what sexual predators have admitted to looking for while scanning myspace and the Internet for potential "prey".

By learning the child's name and where you live, even in the general area, they can then coax your child by name to their vehicle once they've been recognized. They also watched for how many, if any, siblings their potential victim has because then they can assume how often they will see that child alone.

More then one child, is most always a hardship and enough for them to move on. They have been known to watch specific profiles and obtain specific information off people's comments, such as schools or daycares their children go to.

The latest MySpace predator bust resulted in the arrests of 16 individuals who were wanted in connection to assualts involving rape and violence in 30 states. So they move around.

Keep your profile private whenever possible and allow your photos only to be seen by people on your list you know and trust. A survey of these predators also suggested they usually start looking at the people who use their children's photos as their profile pic.

Again, parents of myspace aged teens and pre-teens.....please be aware of who your children are talking to and what they are talking about. Monitor their use and if possible, keep it minimal. The Internet can be used as a marvelous teaching tool, amoung many other wonderful things. We have also seen the downside of Internet use.

We wish everyone happy computer time, but please be aware of certain and potential dangers. To learn more how to better protect your children, please visit www.missingkids.com or call 1-800-THE-LOST.

Our many blessings,

B.S.T.

Dedication to my FFXI friends

I didn't make this video, but I agree with it. I feel the same way about my FFXI friends. I wouldn't make it without you.- and that goes for GTM (my original) and WS (the one I've been adopted into). You guys are the greatest.

Ding!!! BLM 53 & WHM 27

So I lvled my WHM today. And it sucked. First of all, I hate WHM. Second, the party itself was da suk. It was a great party before I joined it. But they replaced 3/6 party members and gave me leader. I know for a fact I'm not very good at party leader. And they replaced all the mages with melee, so I was the only mage. You can see why the party sucked. After the second or third WHM wipe in an hour (among *several* other deaths), I convinced the party to disband. Half the party members had to leave for other things, and it was just sucking for everyone. (SE's thought process: Hmmm, how can we make Mini want to quit the game? I know! Give Mandy's <|sleep|>. She'll get so frustrated, she want to throw things!) But I got two lvls, and I'm 27 now. I'm not gimped yet, but I'm progressing on BLM pretty quickly. It won't take long until I have to lvl WHM again :(
Speaking of which, I love BLM - With all my little taru heart :). When SE created the mages, they made BLM just for Mini. Dhiz, Selo and I trio-ed in <|Pso Xja|>. We had a few deaths there too, but it was awesome. Ice day + ice staff + double ice weather + <|Freeze|> @ 1197 = dead bats in one shot. Hahahahaha!!! As Selo would say, Taru hax.
I finished Genkai 1. That was a new one for me. Out lvling, lvling, lvling. "Oh look! Mini has one TNL!" Next fight, still one TNL. *sigh* So Achi and Vel helped me and Selo (while we sadly ditched Dhiz) to finish my G1. While we were there, we killed Old Two-Wings. And he dropped the Bat Cape :) Vel is going to sell it and split the gil. Yay for gil. And even more yay for being in an awesome LS where the people are so willing to help out a gimped Taru.
Selo showed me the coolest ring today. I now want a Tamas Ring. The stats on this kick butt! He got his today (after much discussion). The quest was long and full of CSs, so he is glad to have it. Check him, his title is "Averter of the Apocalypse". Congrats to Selo. I can't wait to have mine. Enmity -3? <|Yes, Please|>.
Since he has this uber new ring, he gave me an Eremites +1. I now have two Eremites +1, and Ice Staff, my Wizard's Sabots, and the rest is Seer's gear. I have the Wizard's Petasos and Wizard's Tonbans even though I can't wear them yet.
We are steadily gathering BLMs for our manaburn party. Right now it's Selo, Mini (me), and Dhiz. We will pick up another at 55, and two more in the sixties. And although I am all for full BLm all the way, I still prefer a BRD and RDM in the party. <|Refresh|> <|Yes, Please|> We are pretty sure we have narrowed Wed nights down as the static night. That makes me even more excited- my first official static. So far it has been really cool (yes I know, I'm a newb), and I can't wait to continue it.
Here's a SS of me in my uber BLM gear. And when I get more, I will have more :) Do you like my 700 MP? I gave my HP to Vel so I could steal his MP. Shhh don't tell him!

(PS Thanks to Tak, for helping me figure out how to get this photo.)

Sweet and Naive

This story is so cute. I am in the primary in my ward, and love seeing little kids like this. Thanks to Gail for THIS cute story.

(If anyone needs clarification just let me know.)

SO frustrated

I'm almost ready to scream. Of course, I wouldn't want to scare the people upstairs to death- literally. But I'm frustrated! Our internet has been crap for days, ever since we had the outtage. They replaced our modem, internet came back, but it sucks! It drops every few minutes. Anytime I click something I get an error. Every time I try to DL something, it gets cancelled. Hubby is getting r0 in game *constantly*. I simply do not understand what the problem is. We have reset the modem, restarted our comps, turned EVERYTHING off then back on, and tried it again with everything at the same time. Nothing has helped. UGH! I'm not a violent person, but I could drop kick our modem right now.

I'm going to go out and run some errands. *stomps off*

A prayer for the Heart

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.

I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
And It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.

I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak... Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't believe.

But I thank you that I believe. I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers.. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees
it.

Never ending cycle of life

It gets better every day. At least, that is the positive outlook I am working toward. I had a few bad days this week, but thank goodness, today wasn't one of them. I went to a baby shower for Desiree at one, and it was fun. Tons of food. I will have pics DLed in a few. Then I came home and got some housecleaning done. I can never get any work done when Hubby is home, because he wants to play, and wants me to play with him. He wants to game, watch movies, whatever. BUT he was out when I got home. He is returning his crappy not-as-great-as-they-promised TV, and he is going to buy a different one. Bigger or smaller doesn't matter, but it is going to have the features and outputs he wants. We agreed he could spend up to the same amount he received back, but no more. So he is shopping- and I am cleaning. I cleaned the bedroom, then the living room. We are going to re-arrange the living room when he gets home (before the new TV comes out of the package), and get it the way we wanted in the first place. I even got to vacuum. lol The poor kittens were traumatized.
Talked to a friend last night. I am happy to still *have* her as a friend. There was a drama queen out there trying to cause problems. Luckily for me, this friend of mine and I worked out what was going on. And once again, I was told she had been told something completely different about me. This isn't the first time- or the first person- this drama queen has spread gossip about me to. And every time someone comes to me and talks to me about it, I always hear "that's not what I was told". Now, I don't know what that says about what she is telling them, but I am lucky to be friends with people that are smart enough to come to me when they hear rumors about me. I am very blessed in fact, to have the wonderful friends that I do.
I also talked to my sister today. Well two of my sisters, but one that I don't get to talk to very often. Man, I miss her. We have been close ever since we got older (and I don't mean teen-age years, I mean 21+), and she has been one of my favorite people to talk to. You know how you have certain friends that are great friends but they don't really hold a conversation very well? Well she isn't like that. She is awesome to talk to. I love it that I can be so close to my sister.
I have been so addicted to blogs lately. I *love* to read them. I like life blogs, political blogs, graphic blogs, any kind of blog. I have recently been added to the 2K Bloggers. They have a community of ONLY 2000 bloggers. They have created a community for bloggers of bloggers. I think it's great, and I am honored to have been added to it.
I have put my website, HTML, and digiscrapping completely on hold- for the time being. I am more concerned with getting the rest of these boxes unpacked, getting on a schedule and routine, and learning to be a good housewife. I have been kind crazy sitting at home all day, I don't know what to do with myself! So once I get a handle on my new life, I will pick it up again. (I am going to finish DLing the packets I have already been sent, and I am staying in one digiscrap group- Bobbie- just so I don't lose my resources for when I want to pick it up again.)
Okay, I'm off to get these photos online. Feel free to check on the album :) I am such a sucker for pictures. I need to limit myself to one camera full per week lol

The Blogger World

I have recently gotten into the world of blogging. So far, I am enjoying it. There are few quirks here and there, but nothing I can't adjust to. One thing I enjoy, is reading other blogs, and sharing my feelings about them. I have always tried to let the original blogger know, and to cite all the necessary information to give proper credit. Lucky for me, I found an article outlining eight rules for linking to someone else's work. They are straight forward and simple.

Here are the rules:
  1. Link to the original source
  2. Cite name of author
  3. Cite location of source
  4. Use quotation marks/delineate what is copied and what is your own original
  5. Don’t cut and paste entire works (unless the work is copy-left)
  6. Add your own commentary
  7. Respect another blogger’s traffic
  8. Use courtesy and be fair

I am glad to have a standard to follow. I appreciate a well written article, and I believe in giving credit where credit is due. So thank you to Elaine from 2kBloggers for these rules. I encourage any bloggers out there to read THIS well written article, for more detailed information. Thanks Elaine!

The Pope, Billy Graham, and Oral Roberts were in a three-way plane crash over the Pacific Ocean. They all died and went to heaven together.

"Oh, this is terrible," exclaims St. Peter, "I know you guys think we summoned you here, but this is just one of those coincidences that happen. Since we weren't expecting you, your quarters just aren't ready... We can't take you in and we can't send you back...."

Then he got an idea. He picked up the phone, "Lucifer, this is Pete. Hey, I got these three guys up here. They're ours, but we weren't expecting them, and we gotta fix the place up for 'em. I was hoping you could put them up for a while. It'll only be a couple of days. What d'ya say?"

Reluctantly, the Devil agreed.

However, two days later, St. Peter got a call.

"Pete, Lu. Hey, you gotta come get these three clowns.
This Pope fellow is forgiving everybody,
the Graham guy is saving everybody,
and that Oral Roberts has raised enough money to buy air conditioning."

Bring the troops home?

I believe in helping to better ourselves and other countries. But what is the limit? When do you throw in the towel and give up? A heated debate has been ongoing about our troops. I have mixed feelings, and I can see the viewpoint from both sides. But by now, I think they should come home. I was undecided until reading THIS article on Foxnews.com

This quote stuck a cord with me. "It is time for the president to listen to the American people and do what is necessary to protect this nation. That means admitting his Iraq policy has failed, working with the Democrats and Republicans in Congress on crafting a new way forward in Iraq and refocusing our collective efforts on defeating Al Qaeda," said Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

So what are your thoughts? Do you think the troops should stay so we can finish the job they were out there for? Or is it a lost cause, and the troops should just come home?

Where do I find a guy like this to stand at my bank?

I found THIS story on Foxnews.com

Former U.S. Marine Nabs Fire Extinguisher-Wielding Bank Robbery Suspect

Friday, July 13, 2007

DECATUR, Georgia — A former Marine, already irritated about the disappearance of $100 from his bank account, tackled a suspected robber who came into the bank wielding a fire extinguisher and demanding cash.

Timothy Armstead was waiting at the Washington Mutual Bank branch on Tuesday to discuss the missing money when the man came in and told bank employees he had a bomb. The man gave them five minutes to get $2,000 in $50 bills, DeKalb County police said.

As the employees went to the vault to comply, the unidentified man began loudly counting down the minutes, which attracted Armstead's attention, police spokesman Michael Payne said.

When the man then tried to walk out with the money, Armstead, 27, knocked him to the ground. He held the man down — lecturing him on his poor decision — until authorities arrived.

"I just told him it was a very stupid decision and now you get to spend 20 years of your life just for taking some money," Armstead told WSB-TV.

The man was taken to the DeKalb County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery. Jail officials declined to comment on his case Friday. A call to the DeKalb County Sheriff's office was not immediately returned.

Chloe, Kelsey, and even Allison

I've been following the story of 4 year old Chloe Bell. She was in a bad car accident and is still recovering from it. My heart goes out to her and her family. She's an amazing little girl.

Keep healing Chloe! You are doing great!

I also heard the story about Kelsey. She is an angel of inspiration.

Chloe and Kelsey

I have also been following the story of Allison Quets. I haven't made a decision about where I think the babies should be, and I am glad I'm not the one that will have to. I'm not in favor of any mother losing her child, which makes both sides of this case even more difficult.

The Frustrations of Today

First frustration- We've been without interweb since last night. This wouldn't bother a normal person. But Hubby and I are so NOT normal. Besides the obvious, we are geeks. Gaming, insterweb addicted, and sometimes blogging geeks. But the excuse reason we gave when Hubby called in, was that he has to have it for his job. (Truly he does, so it wasn't a lie. Just a convenient excuse.) Being without the web meant I couldn't do any of the stuff for school that I needed to. It meant I couldn't talk to my sister, who could really use a good sis right now. I couldn't talk to Brittany or Crystal, who are my main (internet) support systems. I couldn't check any blogs. I couldn't blog myself. I couldn't do any transcripting. I couldn't add more pics to my online album. I couldn't search YouTube for the videos I wanted to see. Hubby couldn't do FFXI CoP 8-3. He couldn't get on Vent/ Skype. Couldn't check our bank account. And since we lost our net in the middle of BLM AF, Selo didn't get his and I died as soon as we logged back in. And I deleveled. Grrr.
Second frustration- A drama queen I have attempted to purge from my life is still causing drama. I read a post on a blog that I follow (of a friend) which was quite pointed. I have emailed this friend to inquire about it, and I am hoping to hear back soon. I'm not ready to go into detail yet, because it might settle itself (I hope!), but I am tired of it. Misery loves company, and this chick is obviously miserable.
Third frustrattion- I'm frustrated with the lack of schedule or routine in my life right now. Ever since we moved in here, we have lived in the moment. I am a woman that needs routine. I need familiarity and commitment. So, Hubby and I are going to start living with an alarm clock and a bed time. Instead of trying to do ALL the housework every day, I will do certain things each day (ie laundry- Tuesday, shopping- Thursday). The more days that pass like this, the worse I get. We are both ready for a change.
Fourth frustration- I want to digiscrap! Unfortunately, I haven't had any time for this since I started my new job. I thought that I would have plenty of time, so I joined a bunch of free scrapping sites and got involved with some awesome digiscrappers. I now have a desktop full of beautiful stuff, some great new friends, and one single digiscrap page done. I love the page I made, and I can't wait to do more. But I am so overwhelmed with it now, I don't even want to think about it.
Fifth frustration- I want sleep. I go to bed every night, and I toss and turn all night. And when I finally do sleep, my dreams wake me up. They are crazy and weird. I *think* what is happening is I get too hot while asleep. See, Hubby and I sleep very close. Intertwined you could say. And his body temp rises when he sleeps. Now, I have nightmares when I sleep too warmly. So I think I am getting too hot, having nightmares, and scrambling around in bed all night. I wake up tired and irritable and unrested. Definitely unhelpful.

Okay now that I have vented my frustrations, I'm going to go curl up with a book. Hopefully, I will be able to sleep tonight. And tomorrow will be a better day.
*sings* The sun will come out, tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow . . .

Welcome to Wilkes Community College

I had the Orientation and registration for classes today. What at on of info! I knew there would be a lot, and I'm glad I was prepared. Orientation was about an hour long. Started late, which was irritating, and I missed a 2:00 appt I had for a Health Care Conference Call. (Oh well, I will have to reschedule. It was booked a little too close anyway.) After Orientation I registered for classes. I am taking the ACA, NSO, a math and an English class. M,W,F 8-11 and T,TH 9-11. I will be finished in time to pick up the meals from the center and give lunch to my patients. Ten full credits and I'm still going to done before noon. Awesome. I start WCC on August 16. Not only will I be improving myself, but I will have a little more structure and more interaction with the world around me. I'm nervous, but I am really looking forward to it.

I am still a bit torn between Medical Assisting (specializing in insurance) or Accounting. I am going to take a Career Placement test and then speak with a counselor (Mike) about the results. I spoke with Brenda today, who is part of the MA course. Cindy and Janet are the instructors for the Accounting course, so I will probably get in touch with them as well. After speaking with someone today though, I don't think I would be very happy in MA, so I will probably go toward Accounting. *sigh* Anybody that can offer any help one way or the other would be my hero.

I need to get my high school transcript sent to the WCC registrar. Shouldn't be to difficult- make a phone call to ALLC and they send it in for me. (See address below.) I need to turn in my Student Support Services application. As a Wilkes Student, I get special services- tutors, computer lab, lunch once a month, helpful contacts, ect. It will provide some good resources and some friends too. There are a bunch of clubs I want to get involved in. I need to go through the list, find out which ones I am eligible for, pick one or two (or three), and get some emails sent out so I can get involved in those. The faster I am involved in clubs the better.

There is a ton to remember about financial aide, so the rest of this is mostly for my records. Right now, I need to fill out the FAFSA. That means I need to find my and Hubby's 2006 tax info. I think I know where they are. At the end of this week, call Vickie or Amy to be sure the info was received. Get ETA for funds. When that is finished, go to the college to apply for the change. I will receive the copy of my registration in the mail shortly. It will have my classes, and the fees for them. Once that is received, fill out the FACTS form. Allow adjustment for books/ supplies for WCC bookstore when submitting payment information. Jenni in the Accounting office can help with questions.

I think that's all for now. I am off to get supper made, then get working on this financial stuff.

-Call ALLC for the transcript. Said it would be mailed today.
-Found the Student Services form. Need to mail it in.
-As for the FAFSA. I finally found my tax info, and Selo says he will find his tonight. I checked out the form, and I am already overwhelmed. BUT I am going to sit down with the paperform, and fill it out. That way, when I do the online one, I will already have everything figured out and I can just punch the numbers.

Update July 24
-
Finished FAFSA. Nancy called moments after hitting submit button to confirm it had been received. I have already received the signature page. I need to print and mail it back- today if possible.
-Mailed Student Services reply.
-Called Shirley Church at WCC (6526) to verify HS transcript had been received. Transcript has NOT been received.

Received email stating FAFSA had been received, processed, and was sent to school for award. I am guessing this means the school gets to decided if and how much. I need to call the school tomorrow to check status.
-Need to call Shirley again about transcript.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update August 1
- Called ALLC again. Carma said she would send the transcript again, and send a copy to me.
- Rejected for financial aide. I should receive a letter telling me why. I can now fill out a change of status form if I take in a copy of my last pay stub from Lowes and 2006 taxes.
- Sent email to Scott Johnson about clubs/ organizations.
- Shirley said my class schedule will be sent out tomorrow. Linda Church recommends I fill out FACTS form now, so it will be ready when I go in to get books next week (Tuesday?)
How to Buy Stocks
Hubby and I have been discussing the purchase of stocks lately. We both have some and we are looking into purchasing more. We found THIS article to be interesting.
Introduction
Buying stock in a company is relatively easy once you've researched the stocks you're interested in and have a broker or brokerage account to handle your purchase.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate
Steps
1
Step One
Educate yourself fully about stocks before purchasing them. You can find information about stocks and brokers on the Internet.
2
Step Two
Determine what you want in a broker or brokerage account. Do you want to meet with someone face-to-face? Will you want to be able to reach someone by phone? Do you require Internet access? Is price your only consideration? Do you want to buy and sell only stocks, or would you also like to buy and sell mutual funds, bonds or foreign stocks?
3
Step Three
Choose a broker or brokerage firm to purchase the stocks on your behalf based on your needs. Need a lot of advice? Start with a full-service brokerage. The least expensive brokers may not offer advice. Fairly confident and want low prices? Try an online brokerage.
4
Step Four
Contact a broker or firm and request an application. Many firms offer online applications, although most require that you send a check or wire money to actually open the account.
5
Step Five
Deliver a check in person if possible to speed up the process.
6
Step Six
Begin buying and selling stocks once your account is open.
7
Step Seven
Review statements you receive and reevaluate your portfolio's performance. Are you moving toward your investment goals?
Tips & Warnings
  • Ask friends or colleagues for broker or brokerage-firm recommendations. If you don't have a personal recommendation, read ads in financial publications such as "The Wall Street Journal."
  • An online brokerage account is convenient and fast but can be susceptible to computer glitches. Ask if you will be able to make trades by telephone if need be.
  • Ask brokerage firms to list all fees. Watch out for hidden costs (account transfer, electronic transfer or handling fees).
  • It can take a few days to open a brokerage account, so don't expect to be able to trade on the same day you decide to open an account.
A Pleasant Sunday
I'm frustrated with gmail. I accepted the computers offer to remember my UN and PW. But now I have changed the PW and I can't figure out the for the life of me how to update this. I am frustrate with gmail because it's the only one this happens with.
Church was good today. We didn't speak, though. Somebody got their Sundays mixed up. Not sure if it was me or the bishop, but no big deal. He asked us if we could push it back a week, and I requested two weeks. My sis and bro will be out of town next week, and I want them to be here when we speak. There's just something comforting about looking out into the congregation and seeing Mitch, Judy, Max, and Katerina. I met a new chick today at church. She is working at a camp near here for the summer. I really look forward to getting to know her, since there are so few women my age in our ward. I got a calling today too. I am excited about it. I am a primary teacher :) I am one of the two substitute teachers for the entire Primary (Judy is the other- how cool is that?). We have a very small Primary at the moment, only about 25 kids. But within the next two years, we will have 15 nursery babies. So our Primary will be quickly growing. (Side thought, I wonder if Hubby and I will have our first child two years from now. Interesting. I think I will ask him about that.) I am still doing the program, and I am loving it. I have a system set up, and I was given computer authorization today- the password. Ooooohhhhh Aaaaaahhhhhh.
Had an awesome talk with Bishop Woodard today. I've had some pretty serious stuff on my mind lately. Without going into detail, some issues and experiences from my past are coming back to haunt me. Although it is indirectly related to our marriage, Hubby has been nothing but supportive toward me. Honestly I am impressed at the support he has shown me while I work through this. It is something I never expected, and never even heard of. But the bishop is going to make a few calls this week, and I may see a counselor for it. Once or twice, and I should be fine again. I know it is nothing that would ruin our marriage or send me into the psych ward, but it will be nice to have a little help to work through it.
After living for almost a week with next to nothing in our kitchen, I am going grocery shopping today. Is it odd that I am looking forward to it? Honestly I love being able to take a list to the store, buy what I need, and know that we have the finances for it and the kitchen space for it. Growing up, my parents struggled with both. I'm also going to cut Pixie's hair tomorrow. She will have a cute new (and short!) HC for her trip to Utah. I'm also going to stop by our box, and chat it up with Rob for a few. I miss seeing him and Linda every day, they are such good people.
I'm worried about one of our kittens. They were all doing well, but now one of them seems to be digressing. He (okay we don't actually know if it's a boy or girl, but I choose to call them all "he"s because we have plenty of female cats around here) was somewhat lethargic two nights ago. Yesterday I gave him two ounces of water by a syringe and he nursed from his mom. He was walking more after the liquids. I am sure to pets him, give him attention, and make sure he is moving often yesterday and today. He seems better today, so I am pleased. I am still keeping a close eye on him, but I'm glad to see improvement. Other than that, they are doing well. Only one of them still has trouble with it's eyes- well one eye- closing at night. They are running now, and chase their mom or each other. They are playing with about anything now- which is why we are exploring how to get the power cords off the floor. I will be posting updated pics to the Cat Family Site in the next day or two.
Found a "friend" on MySpace for Timpanogas class of 2000 and 2001. I sent a request, and I have been able to catch up with a lot of people I knew in high school. I hated high school, so I am glad to be able to connect with the people I want to, and not deal with the bullies. Now I wonder if there is one for 2002 as well. . .
Thinking about doing AF for FFXI tonight. Selo has wanted to get it started, and I am pretty much ready. If we don't do AF, I am going to work on skilling up. Much needed. Found some other FFXI blogs. Achika and Veloxe. I partied with Vel the other night in the dunes. I like Vel, I miss the dunes (yes, I'm serious), and I hate WAR. Yes, I hate it. I want to lvl PLD and Selo says I need WAR as my sub for PLD. OMGosh that is going to suck. It's so freaking boring.
Reading my friend Elise's blog today, and I ventured around a more. Found two things that interested me. (Elise is actually the reason I decided on Blogger instead of any other blog site, but anyway.)
First, THIS video. This is what Idol should be about. I'm not into the public national humiliation of people who think they are talented (just because they do it to themselves doesn't mean I enjoy it), and this video was great. Although I'm not a fan of this type of music, I have an appreciation for talent, self confidence, and performance. I am impressed by this man, and they way he was there for himself and didn't care what others thought. And then to seal the deal, look at how many people he had in tears with his performance. More power to ya!
Second, THIS post. I placed my son for adoption almost six years ago. To this day, I love him with all my heart. I chose NOT to go through Family Services for many of the reasons she lists here. (One big difference I would like to note. While respecting her views as a ProChoice woman, I am a ProLife woman. I feel abortion is wrong, in every way shape and form.) We had a private, open adoption, with a private social worker and attorney. Now there are times I miss him so much I physically hurt (like Mother's Day), but just as she stated, I do not regret my decision. Not one bit. I was comforted during my pregnancy the moment I made my decision, and I was comforted during and after the adoption was final. I know that my son is in the best possible place for him, I know the family he was placed with is complete now that they have him, and I know that I was blessed to be part of such a miracle.
Thanks for reading, and have a great Sunday!
Hope (A Talk I Wrote For Church)
If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all, Martin Luther King Jr.
So what is hope?
Neal A Maxwell: Real hope is much more than wishful musing. It stiffens, not slackens, the spiritual spine.
The Marriam-Webster dictionary defines hope as a verb meaning to cherish a desire with anticipation, to desire with expectation of obtainment, to expect with confidence. The wikipedia definition is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of perseverance — i.e., believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. The opposite of hope is despair, depression, pessimism, sadness, gloom, grief, dissappointment, and doubt.
These emotions often plague us today. Many of us are depressed and doubtful much of the time. How many people out there live only surviving from day to day? How many are too busy going and doing, that we don't take the time to feel and enjoy faith and hope. We now have a standard of despair, and we are losing hope in ourselves and those around us. We have the mindset "If I want something done right, I must do it myself" and "never going to be good enough". I know for myself, feeling like I always have to prove myself in one way or another, and being overwhelmed every day, can cause me to lose hope.
To be hopfeul, in today's world, is not simply a blessing. It is now a neccessity. Gordon B Hinckley is one of my most favorite people in this world, and I admire him greatly. He has said, "People are not without hope. Everybody ought to recognize that in the most dire circumstances there is an element of hope, that people can recover from what they have done, that they can do better, that they can turn around, that they can improve and increase their happiness by so doing." Even through difficult times and trying experiences, people should keep their hope. Hope is motivational. Hope is encouraging. Hope is reassuring. Hope is our way of mentally and emotionally supporting ourselves and others.
Hope is closely related to faith and to fear. It comes from fear, and is fueled by faith. There is no hope unmingled with fear, and no fear unmingled with hope, Baruch Spinoza. What is fear then? Fear is a distressing emotion caused by heightened nerves or thoughts. And what is faith? Faith is the belief in something that cannot be seen or touched, but is known to be true. Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Job is an example of a man with great faith. He had faith in God, and in God's plan for him. Isn't it a reassuring thought to know that God is not only counscious of you and your life, but he is always caring and mindful and in control? He knows what you are going through, and will be there to support you and love you through it. I can think of nothing more comforting than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As stated by PK Thomajan hope can always cope. It is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier. Doubt is to be uncertain, distrusting, or hesitant to believe. How many of us are doubting when it comes to the gospel in our lives? How many of us pray that we may have trust in God's plan for us, but inside think we know exactly what would be best for us? How many of us know the truth of the Gospel, yet don't want to believe it because it means we would have to alter ourselves? To doubt, is to be untrusting toward God- and how ridiculas is that? Lol Can you see yourself telling God that you think you know better than He? Doubt may be the first reaction- our first thoughts may be to think we know it all and will get through this on our own. But I've learned from experience that God really does know what he is doing, he knows it a lot better than I do, and therefore trusting in His plan and letting Him guide me will get me through anything a lot easier. It gives me hope to know I can rely on Him, and everything will be taken care of.
It also gives me hope knowing that there is a bigger picture. Sometimes, in our lives, we can't figure out how this trial or this difficulty could possible be a benefit. Paul had an experience similar to this. He was in town teaching a multitude of people. While teaching, the Lord told him to leave the multitude to go teach one person. So he went. Paul knew the Lord was all knowing, and had a desire to do whatever the Lord required of him. He knew the Lord had a higher plan, and this gave him hope that what was he was doing was for the bigger picture.
For me, hope also brings happiness. Knowing that things will eventually get better. Knowing that things are taken care of. Knowing that there is hope for the future, relieves the pressure and stress. It allows me to be happy and enjoy life. Alma 28:12 supports this idea, "While many thousands of others truly amourn. . . yet they rejoice and exult in the hope, and even know, according to the bpromises of the Lord, that they are raised to dwell at the right hand of God, in a state of never-ending happiness."
Hope is wonderful and is God given. But just as anything else, we must strive to keep our hope strong and active. Mother Teresa compared hope to a lamp. "To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it." We must feed our hope to keep it alive. To do this, we can treat it as we would other element in our lives. Pray to have hope. Study hope in our daily scripture study. Have a positive outlook on life, encouraging postive thoughts and perspectives. Things actions will keep hope in our lives. Jeremiah 17:7 "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is."
I have a testimony of hope. A personal example of needing to have more hope in my life, was just before my wedding. The bishop, my husband, and all my family members were working on a single major factor of the wedding. Everyone else had confidence in the Lord and hope that everything would be alright. Because we planned our wedding in six weeks, we were rushed to get certain VERY needed paperwork done. Bishop Woodard, President Whitaker, and my husband were all working hard to be sure it would be accomplished by the due date. And as they were taking care of everything, I was panicking. It was one of those moments I felt that I had to do everything, and I just couldn't. I needed to step back, and trust that my husband was aware of all that was happening and doing what was needed. Once I finally did, things changed. I gave up the so called control I thought I had, and handed my stress and anguish over to the Lord. I put confidence in His plan, and got my hope back that everything would be taken care of. The very next day, the paperwork came through. Our wedding took place ten days later, on the date we had originally chosen and in the temple we had chosen. It was a very difficult lesson for me, and one I will never forget. I learned to keep Hope in the Lord's plan for me, and trust that he knows what he is doing. I learned that others are just as if not more capable than I am. I learned to trust in the priesthood around me. And since that lesson, I have been able to remind myself the Lord knows all, and everything will be okay according to His plan.
I would like to bear my testimony to you. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith. I believe he was a prophet of God. I believe Gordon B Hinckley is a prophet called of God. I have a lot of respect for both of these men and what they did for people and for the Lord. I look forward to meeting them in the next life. I believe God has a plan for us. I believe and I am grateful for the gift of family. My great-granny down to my future children. I am grateful for my husband, whom I love so much and I am so blessed to have in my life. I am grateful for my dad and step-mom. They are wonderful people and excellent examples. Judy is one of the most patient people I have ever known. I am grateful to my brother and sisters- all of them. I am grateful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I am grateful for the gift of freedom and living in America, so that I may believe and worship as I choose to. I am grateful for the opportunity and luxury of employment. I am grateful for this ward and the opportunity to meet and visit and enjoy being around people of God. I am grateful for education, and the chance to learn and further knowledge. I am grateful for good friends. I have a testimony of God, and I am glad to have Him in my life. God makes all things possible and gives hope in all things. And I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. He is my savior, my example, and my hero. I say these things, in the holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Finished!!!
I have been working on my talk for church all week long. And I am finally finished. I am having a few people read and give feedback, but other than that, I am finished. Now I just need to practice and I am good to go. Thanks for all the encouragement and support!
Ding! BLM 50
Partyed with Selo and Dhiz tonight, and I finally got 50 *grin* AF here I come!
Helpful Hints for the Home
Eliminate ear mites. All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear...Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing.
Kills fleas instantly...Dawn dishwashing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Good-bye fleas.
Rainy day cure for dog odor ...Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.
Did You Know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-- without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional "pain relievers."
Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.
Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.
Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.
Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.
Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-- even though the product was never been advertised for this use.
Honey remedy for skin blemishes ... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.
Listerine therapy for toenail fungus. Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.
Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.
What is . . .
. . . MyBlogLog? I see it on friend's blogs and I've checked out the website. But the only thing it looks like is something to help you track who sees your blog? And of course, you can see their blogs too. But it seems to only track the views by those that are members, so it sounds ineffective. Is there more to it than this? Am I missing something about it?
Blending a Family
Blending a Family
R. Kaiulani Chai Unga, “Blending a Family,” Ensign, Dec. 1993, 63–64
1. Even before the two of you discuss your wedding date, discuss your family goals and expectations. Showing parental unity does not mean that you will always agree with each other’s methods, but it does depend on your discussing your differences privately until you come to a mutual understanding.
2. Allow the children to love their absent parent. Avoid saying negative things about the absent parent.
3. Continue existing family traditions while creating new ones. Children need the familiarity of cherished traditions.
4. Love the children wholeheartedly.
5. Do not show favoritism.
6. Show your love by deed as well as word.
7. Don’t be afraid to say no, but say it kindly. If children are confident of your love for them, they are much more accepting of parental authority.
8. Don’t expect instant acceptance.
9. Have a gospel-oriented home. Learning about Christ and trying to live by his example can create a great environment in any home.
10. Look to Heavenly Father. Take your problems and frustrations about your new parental role to the One who knows all, our Father in Heaven. Pray for the softening of hearts. Pray for acceptance. Pray for those little miracles that the Lord can endow. Pray and give thanks when he blesses you beyond your expectations.—R. Kaiulani Chai Unga, Nuku‘Alofa, Tonga
Be A Believer
An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that evolution had created.
"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!", he said to himself. As he was walking along the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. When he turned to see what the casue was, he saw a 7-foot grizzly charging right towards him. He ran as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing, He ran even faster, crying in fear. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that moment, the Atheist cried out "Oh my God!...." Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all of these years; teach others I don''t exist; and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"
The atheist looked directly into the light "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as Christian now, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian?" "Very well," said the voice.
The light went out. The river ran again. And the sounds of the forest resumed.
And then the bear dropped his right paw ..... brought both paws together...bowed his head and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful."
"Katarina" (Book)
Katarina by Kathryn Winter
I enjoyed this book. Katarina is a young girl born Jewish and living in Slovokia. She was not raised Jewish and does not understand why she must be treated like a Jew. She believes in Jesus Christ, and worships in secret. The faith of this child is amazing. This book was enjoyable and encouraging.
"Someone Like You" (Movie)
Someone Like You (2001)
Very disappointing. I was bored with it. Supposed to be a good romance. It was more painful than wonderful. I enjoyed the similarities to my own relationship with Hubby (we started dating because we were roommates after we both left really bad and abusive relationships), but that was about it. Vulgar, slightly pornographic, angry, and not very real. The movie got good reviews from the critics, but I didn't like it at all. Want to enjoy it? Watch the trailer, skip the movie.
Learning the ropes
Today was eventful. I spent most of the day learning- a lot. I found my way to The Center on my own (yay!). In the afternoon Meba and I went over ALL of the meds for both Ivan and Silvana, meaning pills, oxygen, ect. Once night rolled around, I helped Judy get them ready and into bed. I am tired tonight! But I love it. I think I am really going to enjoy this.
Hubby and I finally got our pillowtop here last night. Neither one of us enjoyed sleeping without it, and last night was so much better. lol We are so spolied.
Sadly, I have some sort of reaction or rash on my stomach. Nothing gross or disgusting, but it's painful. Little red bumps that itch. It hasn't spread anywhere else, but it hasn't gone away either. Not sure exactly what it is.
I am 1k TNL on my BLM. So close to 49. I would have finished last night, but I feel asleep on my keyboard. Woke up and I was face down :(
I have decided to do my talk for church on Hope. I have enjoyed it so far, and I will be able to get more research done tomorrow. And I tell you, I sure feel a difference when I increase the time I spend reading my Bible. It's amazing.
We had a good Fourth of July yesterday. Spend the whole day together, then went out late last night for dinner and ice cream. It was relaxing- and very nice.
I'm falling behind on my DigiScrapping and HTML lessons. After this week, I really need to get some progress made there.
Piano lessons start again on Monday too. Must get in some really good practice time this weekend. Sunday is the perfect day to play the piano. I am going to call the Piano Doctor to have them come out. I *love* my new piano, but it definitely needs a tune up.
I have two quick reviews to do, and then I am headed to bed. Have a great night!
A Few For Fun
You Are A Good Friend
You're always willing to listen
Or lend a shoulder to cry on
You're there through thick and thin
Many people consider you their "best friend"!
You Are a Learning Cook
You've got the makings of an excellent cook, and the desire to be one.
But right now, you're just lacking the experience. You couldn't be a top chef yet, but you could be an apprentice.
You Will Be a Cool Parent
You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.
You can tell when it's time to let kids off the hook, and when it's time to lay down the law.
While your parenting is modern and hip, it's not over the top.
You know that there's nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager... or a drill sergeant!
You Have Your Emotions in Check
You are an incredibly stable and happy person.
Ever consider being a therapist?
You have figured out how to keep a positive outlook, no matter what.
You don't have an easier life than anyone else. You just have figured things out a little more.
You Are Low Maintenance
Otherwise known as "too good to be true"
You're one laid back chica - and men love that!
Just remember that no good guy likes a doormat.
So if you find your self going along to get along...
Stop yourself and put up a little bit of a fight.
Breathe. Wipe the tears away, and breathe
Yes, I am crying. I am laying (kind of) on the couch next to my husband, and tears are streaming down my face. I am holding my stomach because it hurts so bad. And I am trying not to fall off the couch. I cannot stop. . . laughing! Check THIS out. (Language is adult. Do not read out loud or to children.)
Military Families are being scammed
NOBODY should fall for this one. You've heard it a million times. So don't do it.
Plus anyone participating in this is total scum. How dare you take advantage of people like this?
God and Adam
God creates Adam and puts him in the garden. He see's that adam is lonely so he comes down and tells adam that he is going to create "woman." Adam is very excited and asks god what woman is, god tells him that woman will be his greatest creation ever, she will cook, clean, and serve with no complaint, she will love him, bear his children and give him great pleasure always without hassle. Adam being the smart man that he was asked god what woman would cost him. God told him that it was a pretty hefty price, an arm and a leg. So adam thought for a minute and decided to ask god what he could get for a rib.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
Hubby and I are speaking in church on Sunday. This is our topic. I am having trouble putting together material, because the topic is so broad. Any suggestions you have are more than welcome. Feel free to post here, or email me.
8 Things about me *Thanks Melissa*
I've been tagged- by my sweet friend Melissa. First of all, I love Melissa. I love reading her blog(s), I love the way she writes, I love that she keeps updates on her pregnancy, I simply love her. Thanks Melissa!
The Rules: “Each person posts the rules before their list, then they list 8 things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people and then visits those peoples’ sites and comments letting them know that they have been tagged, and to come read the post, so they know what they have to do.”
1- I am a beginner when it comes to blogging. I blog about a lot of things, and I write in my blog like a journal. But I don't blog anything that I don't want shouted in public, or held against me. I know better ;) I read TONS of blogs. I am learning and I love to read others' blogs and comments.
2- I adore my husband. I have been interested in him since the day I met him. But we hardly ever spoke, because he was in a relationship. I have loved him from the day we started dating, and I will love him for the rest of eternity.
3- I admire my husband, and his respect for his past. He was married before me. He loved his wife very much when he married her, and all through their marriage. He does not regret marrying her, or loving her, one bit. This gives me strength because I know he does not do things he will regret. I have confidence in him, and I wish I could live life more like him.
4- My best friend's name is Crystal. She and I have been best friends since we were twelve, and will be best friends for the rest of eternity. She has pulled me through so many difficult times in my life, and she has always been a light to me. We email and IM about every day, and talk on the phone about once a week. I love her like a sister and I would do anything for her. I don't know what I would do without myself if she wasn't part of my life!
5- I enjoy cleaning. I love the feeling of looking around me, and seeing the improvement I made on the world around me.
6- I may only weigh 105, but I am still concerned about my weight. I hate hollywood, and the stress they put on women's bodies. I should feel beautiful because I am, and not because I do or don't weigh a certain amount.
7- My husband picked our wedding day. AND he planned most of our wedding. I wanted to marry him, but I didn't want a big deal. He did. So I let him plan it. He had a blast, got what he wanted, and we both loved every minute of it.
8- I have to have a schedule in my life. I can live without one, but I do so much better with one. I get more accomplished, I have a better attitude, and my life is smoother.
I will tag Journey Gal, Silly Scrubs, Up Chic Creek, Watch out for Mama, Dandelion Mama, Tina's Talkn, Poetic Frog, Frog Thinks This
Have fun, Ladies!
Insecurities
I have been married for almost four months. During those four months, I have often wondered if I am a bad wife. Today is one of those days. I wonder if I am taking good enough care of my husband. He likes a clean house, good meals, and a loving home- exactly the same as all other husbands. I have the loving my husband part down, I love him- a lot. But right now, our house isn't as clean as either one of us like. And I'm not cooking much because A) I still haven't found the majority of my kitchen and B) we don't have any food in our fridge. So in my eyes, I am not properly providing for my husband. He works all day, and in appreciation, I should be able to provide a clean household and a nice dinner. Even in my dream last night, I was not able to provide this for him. *sigh* So I wake up this morning, already feeling like a bad wife. And I have all day long to worry and stress about it until my husband comes home tonight, at which time I should, again, have dinner and a clean house waiting for him.
My insecurities do not stem from my husband being unappreciative to me. Last night, he told me how much he appreciated me being home when he got there, and doing laundry for him. He does this frequently- several times a day. I know that my husband appreciates me. But am I showing him proper appreciation and love if I do not provide the things a stay at home wife should provide?
Starbucks supports our troops
The rumor that Starbucks has refused to send Marines free product because they don't support the war or anyone in it is FALSE. This rumor has begun circulating again, and HERE's the truth behind it.
56 Days
Three blondes go into a bar, sit down and order a round of shots. After the bartender poors them, they each salute and yell "56" then drink the shots and ask for another round. After a couple rounds the bartender gets curious as to what they are celebrating and askes them. One blonde replies: "We bought a jigsaw puzzle that said 2-3 years on the box and we did it in 56 days!"
Settling in
Hubby and I are completely moved out of the old house, and (although we are no where near unpacked yet) moved into our new house. I am hoping to get some pictures of it this week so I can show it off. It's beautiful here. Mr Ivan and Ms Silvania are just as sweet as can be. I spent the morning with them, helped with their noon meal, and then let them be. We enjoy each others' company, but I want to be sure they still have their independence. They need help, but not a baby sitter. I should be able to get our house in order in no time.
Hubby and Mitch got my piano in the house. I am so excited. I can't wait to get back to playing again. I have my books, and have seen my instructor already. I have a lot of practicing to do before my next lesson.
The kittens are getting around now too. They are still a bit wobbly, but they are venturing farther and farther. Soon they will be all over the place. I will have some more pictures of them posted hopefully this week as well. Piper is already begging to be let outside, and Sweetie is beginning to wander the apartment more.
This weekend was hard on my body. My lower back is quite sore, and my wrists are terrible. I will be wearing my wrist braces for a few days, until I can use them normally again. In the past I hadn't had much pain with the carpal tunnel, and only needed a few weeks of physical therapy to clear it up. But I tell you, this is painful. I am hoping the pain will go away, if I wear the braces and take it easy.
Well, back to work! I want to put in a few more hours, and then I am going to catch up on all my blogs. I haven't read any in several days! I am way behind!
"The Holiday" (Movie)
The Holiday Sony Pictures (2006)
Hubby and I both loved this movie. It had a very likable cast, including Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black, and even Eli Wallach. It was a hilarious comedy about mending a broken heart by removing yourself from the situation. We've all had our heart broken and wished we could "get away from it all". Both Kate and Cameron were the typical broken hearted women (on both sides of the ego), Jude played his part very well as always, and Jack held his new role very well. This film is a comfortably predictable story with several main characters and plenty of relationships (and friendships!) to follow. I very much enjoyed Eli's character and his reality check line about "playing the best friend when you should be the leading lady". The phone call had us holding our breath and laughing at the same time. We weren't bored or disappointed throughout the whole movie, and were still discussing it a few days later. This is one we would watch over again, alone or with others.
Your Life is 22% Off Track
In general, your life is going very well.
You're quite happy with where you are and what you're doing.
And even if you get a bit off course, you're usually able to get back on track easily.
What Your Favorite Color Yellow Says About You:
Wise --- Aware --- Curious
Intellectual --- Logical --- Decisive
Introverted --- Focused --- Driven
Your Mouth is a Little Big
You're not a total tell all, but you don't hide who you are either.
You've struck a good balance between discretion and sharing.
People know you fairly well, at least on a superficial level.
But you save your most revealing secrets for your best friend... or no one!
You Are a Pundit Blogger!
Your blog is smart, insightful, and always a quality read.
Truly appreciated by many, surpassed by only a few
Your Cell Phone Etiquette is 27% Bad, 73% Good
Your cell phone manners are quite good. Not perfect, but almost.
Occasionally, you do annoy people with your cell. But when you realize it, you stop.
You Are 26% Fake
The real you is something you embrace and don't mind enhancing.
You know that a few beauty secrets aren't a big deal, as long as you look good.
You Are Great With Money
You know the value of a dollar - and you save and spend wisely.
By living below your means, you've set yourself up for a rich future.
And while it may hurt to sacrifice now, you'll probably have plenty of money later on.
You're on your way to riches - just keep it up.
Your Love Life is Like The Princess Bride
"Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."
For you, love is like a fairy tale - albeit a fairly twisted one.
You believe romance is all about loyalty, fate, and a good big of goofy fun.
Your love style: Idealistic yet quirky
Your Hollywood Ending Will Be: Perfectly romantic
Stuck up princess? Not me!
You Are Not Prissy
You're the furthest thing from a princess - and you probably stay far away from any princess types you know.
You have an easygoing approach to living. It doesn't take a lot to make you happy.
And when life requires it, you're ready to get your hand a little dirty.
There's no problem you're too prissy to tackle!
Light at the end of the tunnel
We are almost finished moving. We spent all of Friday and Saturday. My little brother and sister came to help us Friday and spent the night, and my parents (Mitch and Judy) helped on Saturday. Thank heavens for their help! Judy packed almost the entire kitchen on her own, we couldn't have gotten the piano in without Mitch, and OMGosh I think Pixie outworked us all. We have had five vehicles going between the two households at any given time. I have been cleaning like crazy (nobody has lived in our new home for several years!) and Hubby is so beat up it isn't funny- his hand might actually be broken, but since he can move it he is just taking it *really* easy with that hand. We should be completely finished (including cleaning) of our old house today. And I am hoping to be organized in our new house by the end of the week. We moved the cats over here already. Piper, as usual, is already adjusted and wandering around after her first night here. Sweetie, well, she's just starting to venture out- and she was brought over on one of the first trips. But she is doing well considering, and as long as she is improving we are pleased. We are still working on arranging where we want everything to go, and we have some serious moving-of-the-furniture to do. (The home is fully furnished.)
I start my new position tomorrow. Although I am a bit nervous, I am looking forward to it. I have a lot of things I plan on getting done now that I will be home. And I am definitely glad there will be no lapse in income on my part. Our bank account is almost zip right now because of the move. Gas is expensive, especially when you are fueling so many vehicles. We will be living on our food storage and no spending money for a little while. But this will do us a lot of good in the long term future, so we don't regret our decision. lol But I will be doing more research on frugal living and keeping costs down. A few things I am already looking forward to are line drying my clothes and home made meals. We haven't had much- or any- of either while we were both working.
Hubby and I are speaking in church next Sunday. I am looking forward to writing my talk- I am always looking for ways to grow my faith. Hubby and I will probably set aside some time to work on them together too. It will be good to share our knowledge AND make sure our talks are different.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. And I apologize to everyone that has emailed me in the last few days (or week lol)- neither one of us has had time to check our email. I'll try to get to mine this week- no telling when Hubby will get to his. But I hope your night is lovely and relaxing.
